Phil was born and raised in Fremont and spent his elementary and high school years in the Weyauwega-Fremont School District. Following his graduation from Weyauwega High School in 1964, he enrolled in UW-Oshkosh to begin the preliminary coursework to pursue a degree in Mortuary Science. Phil is a 1967 graduate of the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science (WIMS) and has been a licensed funeral director for more than 50 years. He joined his father, Alvin Lewin, in the business in 1968 and went on to become the owner of Lewin Funeral Home in 1972.

Involvement in community and church has always been a top priority for Phil. He was instrumental in forming and managing the Fremont-Wolf River EMS (Emergency Medical Services) where he also served as an EMT for many years. He is a life-long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fremont where he continues to serve in many leadership roles. He is a member of the Wisconsin Funeral Directors Association and has been recognized by the organization for 50 years of service in the profession. He is a past president of the Fox River Valley Funeral Directors Association and a member of the National Funeral Directors Association.

Throughout the years, Phil spent his “spare time” in the great outdoors. If he wasn’t duck hunting or deer hunting, you’d find him at local and regional gun clubs where he enjoyed trap shooting. His involvement in Ducks Unlimited along with all of his sporting activities established many long-lasting friendships.

Phil and his wife Bonnie are Fremont residents. They have two daughters, Jenny (Doug) Ehrenberg and their children Cadyn and Luke; and Missy (Mark) Haessly and their children, Mason, Karson and Sawyer.

Doug grew up in Waupaca, Wisconsin and graduated from Waupaca High School in 1990. He and his wife, Jenny, currently reside in Fremont. They have two children: Cadyn and Luke. Following preliminary coursework at UW-Madison and Northcentral Technical College, Doug attended Milwaukee Area Technical College where he graduated in 1996 with an Associate Degree in Funeral Service and Mortuary Science. He is a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and currently serves as the congregation’s Chairman.
